FINAL: After reading from her short story called “Cooking Class” to the participants of writing camp, 15-year-old Hansberry College Prep High School student Anniah Lucas of Chicago, IL, receives the “Most Offended by Pineapples” award, a joke amongst the students in reference to a class activity earlier in the camp. The writing camp provided students writing and reading time in a range of writing styles, the opportunity to hone their writing skills under the guidance of NIU graduate students and the chance to hear feedback on their work. On the final day of camp, each student could present their work or read an excerpt of their work to the entire group.
