Sophomore manufacturing engineering major Ryan Sims of Chicago, IL., chose his major based on his love of building things and wanting something that would be hands-on. As a child, Sims said he was always building thing. “And now as an adult I see I can build big things.” But his major isn’t the only passion in Sims life. He stresses how it’s important to develop interests in things outside of one’s major, even if it’s one they love. “Whatever major a person chooses it shouldn’t be the only thing the stick with,” Sims said. “They say life is short but it’s long too. Come up with a few different things you want to do. Be well-rounded and creative!”
