First year in the Master of Public Health program Tejasvi Diccar of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, faced some differences when she came to NIU for school. Significant for her was the American teaching system and the weather. “The weather was not welcoming,” Diccar said. Her instructors and the public health faculty helped her this. Diccar said program coordinator Arlene Kaddie was instrumental in her decision to come to NIU, because even with these obstacles, Kaddie was and welcoming when she came to visit campus. She also receives support and guidance from assistant professor Dr. Jennifer Gray who advises Diccar. “Having warm people around makes learning more fun because it comes from the heart,” Diccar said.
