Far right, Amy Stratton of Wheaton with AmeriCorps VISTA and point person for the Community Gardens, and Dorothy Coleman of DeKalb with the DeKalb County Community Gardens group tend to rows of spinach in the Communiversity Garden. Stratton said that the garden offers a lot of opportunity for different groups and organizations on campus to be involved, for example members of STEM designed and installed the irrigation system that is now being utilized in the gardens. Most of the crops are later donated to the food pantry but volunteers are encouraged to take what produce they want.
