Student Orientation Leader Laura Lorenzen, a Tinley Park native majoring in nursing, poses with Student Orientation Leader Micah Rogers, from Plano majoring in hospitality management inside of the student center. Both were working for the two-day freshman orientation session. Lorenzen said she became an orientation leader because she wanted to give back to the school and help new students like she remembered being helped. Her advice to incoming freshman having remembered what it was like? "Get involved," Lorenzen said. "Meet people and don't be afraid to get and and stuff. NIU has so much to offer. At first I didn't realize that. "
