Corporation communications major Dominique Lanking of Chicago, Ill., designed her cap with many aspects in mind; the sunflowers represent "the blooming of a better me in all aspects," Lanking said. "The word 'resilient' is my favorite word because I've been through a lot but have gotten through it." She spelled 'reflection' with a 'k' because the african language uses 'k' over a 'c.' The year '12 was a nod to her joining the S.I.S.T.E.R.S organization in 2012. "I spent four days making it," Lanking said of her cap. "I'm real complex so it was a lot of things to represent."
