FINAL: Tamara Boston chose to be photographed by a tree she has always admired on campus due to it blooming in her favorite color: purple. Tamara Boston is completing her Master of Science in Education with a 4.0 grade point average. Along with her busy schedule as a graduate student in two departments, she is an active member of numerous honor societies, including Kappa Delta Pi education honor society, and Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society. She has served on both the 2016 Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Week and the Diversity Dialogues committees. Her service also includes Camp Power and the Tammy Duckworth political campaign. Her colleagues describe her as a “highly motivated, passionate and dedicated, hard working non-traditional student who serves as a mentor and role model to many, and a true joy to work with.” Her future goals include achieving her Doctorate where her research area will be looking at student retention through peer influence. Tamara says, “I see myself as a mother, daughter, grandmother and friend who advises, counsels and cares. And as a very proud Huskie!” Boston is a recipient of the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women Outstanding Women Student award.
