FINAL: Senior nutrition, dietetics and hospitality management major Sarah Stendebach of Wauconda, IL, has fostered pets from TAILS Humane Society in DeKalb, IL, for the past two years. She kept her 50th foster, now Captain Cat Sparrow. The idea to have TAILS come out for a de-stress event came to her after her friend mentioned how beneficial as a de-stressor it would be just to have people come to Stendebach’s house to pet her foster kittens. “I thought, ‘there’s an idea here’,” Stendebach said. Thus, the Animal Stress Therapy event was started, in partnership with the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, providing student volunteers to help, and TAILS, providing adoptable animals to de-stress.
