FINAL: Senior communications major Erika Davis of Chicago, IL, looks to her mom as the major influence in her life. “She’s my biggest fan,” Davis said. She provides her support in financial aspects as well. “It’s been hard paying for all this. She’s made so many sacrifices. She took money out of her retirement to help pay for my school.” Davis is continually grateful for the example her mother has shown her. She’s the strongest person I know,” Davis said. “She makes me believe I can do anything because of what she’s overcome in her life. She is a recovering addict,” Davis explains, “She overcame that. She overcomes that every day. I want to be at least half that strong. She really makes me believe I can achieve anything. She’s the greatest. She’s an awesome human being.”
