FINAL: Assistant director in the Faculty Development and Structure Design Center, Stephanie Richter crochets a scarf during a Giving Project workshop hosted by NIU’s Operating Staff Council (OSC). The OSC hosts several Giving Project workshops to teach participants how to crochet sleeping mats for the homeless as well as knitting and crocheting of scarves, blankets and gloves for students in need of assistance. The items are donated to the Huskie Food Pantry and the NIU police station. Richter said she already knew how to crochet but came to the workshop because she liked the idea of helping the homeless.
